When the Food Comes With an Uncomfortable Atmosphere I walked into this restaurant expecting nothing more than a good plate of pasta. Instead, I walked out wondering why the atmosphere changed so noticeably once I walked through the door. The environment itself was decent, but the interaction from the moment I entered felt uncomfortable. One of the older gentlemen in the back didn't exactly appear pleased to see me. He introduced himself as Michele from Napoli. His tone and manner came across as extremely tongue-in-cheek when I tried to order. I ordered a Daniela with penne. He repeated the order, and I waited. Nothing dramatic happened. That's actually what made the experience so strange. It was the air in the room. I'm a 6'2" Black man with locs. I'm not naΓ―ve about how people sometimes perceive me. But there is a difference between walking into a room and simply sensing that you're being watched versus feeling like the entire energy of the room has shifted because you're there. While waiting for my food, I noticed employee and another customer talking in their language. I obviously couldn't understand what was being said. But I could see the looks, the nodding in my direct

I'm am a Field Supervisor for Snow Operations from Oregon. Calle in to help with the storm. Haven't had a real meal in days, just going nonstop to get people on the roads and to their jobs. Was recommended this place by local plow guy Nicky. "I said I want no BS strait up best pie in NYC!" And here I was sent. First off service was phenomenal! Quick great attitudes, even impressed me from the West coast πŸ˜† But for real, Owner just gave me a slice immediately. Because of who I was, and the help I was trying to bring everyone in pure chaos. Got 5 slices al different..and I'm currently eating the last piece on the beach at Great Kills park (awesome place also) Much love from, Riley Oregon guy blown away!! What is that last slice? OMFG

I finally braved it out post-Arctic blast to have a late lunch at old-school Italian, Villa Monte, in New Springville. They have a huge menu and lots of different dishes to choose from. We started with shrimp oreganata and then had a vodka pie which was huge - but always happy to have leftovers. Food and service were both very good!

As someone who reviews a lot of local businesses, I can confidently say Gino’s Villa Monte Pizzeria sets the standard for what a neighborhood restaurant should be. Longevity like this doesn’t happen by chance it’s earned through consistency, attention to detail, and doing things the right way every single day. The staff is always welcoming, professional, and efficient. You’re greeted promptly, orders are handled smoothly, and the overall experience feels organized and intentional. There’s a clear pride in how this place is run, and it shows from start to finish. The food is where they truly shine. Fresh ingredients, classic flavors, and dependable execution every time. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, the quality never changes everything arrives hot, fresh, and exactly as expected. No off days, no inconsistency, no surprises. That level of reliability is rare and incredibly valuable in a local spot. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, making it an easy choice for families, regulars, and anyone looking for a solid, trustworthy place to eat. This is the kind of restaurant locals rely on, not just visit once. If you’re looking for a place that delivers the same high
